Alright guys, it's official...my next singie is going to be "You're My Favorite"!!! Ever since I wrote this song and started playing it at my shows, many of you have shared stories with me about what it means to you, who it makes you think about, how your friends used it for their first dance, and the list goes on and on. Those stories are not only a huge compliment and lifeline for me, but they're also a true testimonial to the power of a song. That being said, I would LOVE for you to comment here and share those stories and any new ones with me and my amazing team at WB so that we can tell the world just how much this song means to real people. Any takers?!
It's starting to look and feel like fall here in Tennessee already! I absolutely love this time of year. Something about it always puts me in a writing mood. I can't wait to get back in some writing rooms and write some new songs! I hope everyone had a great summer and got to see lots of concerts. I know we sure played a TON of them ourselves! It was truly the busiest and most exciting summer I've had in my ten years of living in Nashville.
Aside from the change of weather, there are some other things I've had the opportunity to take part in recently that I'm pretty excited about. Starting with my first time ever playing at the Grand Ole Opry! When I got the e-mail from the WB folks saying the Opry wanted to have me in for my debut appearance it really just seemed surreal to me. Almost as if I'd dreamed it. But thankfully, it was real and it happened! I loved that my dad was able to drive up from Florida to be there for it too, especially since he's the person who bought me my very first guitar. It was a cool moment and he was a proud papa to say the least, ha. It seemed like all day long people were asking me if I was getting nervous yet. I told them all no, and I honestly wasn't nervous at all. But when Little Jimmy Dickens announced me and I walked out there and stood in that circle, that's when my nerves finally decided to kick in. It was just such a surreal experience and an amazing opportunity. Other than focusing on not messing up, I was thinking about all the things I've done over the last ten years and it felt like they had led me to this one moment in time. And to think of all the people who have stood on that stage over the years....I mean, wow! Hopefully, October 1 marks the beginning of many Opry performances to come for me. And a big thank you goes out to the fans who drove down to see the show in person and to those of you who listened on the radio and on-line at home. Your support means the world to me!
Another cool thing I did recently was go in to see the folks at CMT in Nashville and do a live chat from their Facebook page. This was my first time ever doing something like this and it was truly a blast! I wasn't too sure how it would work or what I'd have to do, and I was kind of worried there wouldn't even be anyone around to chat with me. Thankfully, I was wrong! There were lots of people on there for the chat and it went great. Such a neat way to keep in touch with everybody! And because of how well it went I will definitely be doing it again in the near future, so keep an eye out for an announcement about the next one. I'm hoping to get set up to be able to just do it myself from my laptop, that way we can do it when and where ever I happen to be at the time!
And last but not least, amongst other gigs that we're playing in the fall I'll also be doing more shows around the country with various radio stations. I played one in Colorado Springs, CO a couple of weeks ago that was a lot of fun and for a great cause too. This show was to benefit the Rocky Mountain Childhood Cancer Foundation, and I was told that they raised a LOT of money for the foundation! It's a good feeling when I can use my music to help out with such a great cause. I hope to be a part of many more of these in the future. If you'd like to learn more about this particular foundation, you can click on this link for their website.
Well, that just about wraps it up for now, but don't forget about the guitar giveaway on my website! If you haven't signed up for it already, go there now...it's really easy! And if you have, then pass the info along to your friends for me and tell them they can sign up too!! We'll be doing lots more fun stuff like this in the future too, so be on the lookout. I hope this update has found you healthy and happy, and I look forward to singing for you again somewhere out on the road real soon!
Much love,
Jason
So I thought it was going to be 19 days in the van going across the country and back; I was wrong. It actually ended up being 27 days, and what a ride it was! During that time I think I only got to go home for maybe 4 days. But I tell ya what, a lot of things have happened during that time, with or without me being home.
Ferris Wheel is consistently doing well and moving up the charts, the video started getting airplay on GAC and CMT last week, I got baptized for the first time in my life on August 9, and somehow or another I've managed to be moving during the whole process. Pure craziness!!! As crazy as it is though, I wouldn't ask for it to be any different. I love this life; making music, traveling, meeting new people, and just being able to make a living doing this is a huge blessing in itself.
Anyhow, I hope you guys enjoy the new pictures here. Some of them may have been posted on my facebook earlier, but I thought they should be included anyhow just for the sake of telling a story and giving a timeline through the pictures. Thanks for reading...see ya next time!
Much Love,
Jason
Today is the second day of our drive to Portland, OR, and we're on day six already of a nineteen day run across the country and back. The six of us are all riding in the van together and although it sometimes feels like we're trapped in a box, so far it's been nothing but a blast! Yesterday we drove for thirteen hours from Minneapolis, MN to Billings, MT. And if everything goes well, we'll be staying in Spokane, WA tonight. This is the first time in my life I've ever driven across country; something I've always wanted to do. And what better way to do it too than with the guys in the band and getting to play shows here and there as we go?! At this point we've already played in Beatrice, NE, Twin Lakes and Eau Claire, WI. By the time we reach the end of these nineteen days we'll have played in Portland and Sweet Home, OR, Yerington, NV, Spokane, WA, Lewiston, ID, Great Falls and Sidney, MT, and Indianapolis, IN.
I've been taking some pictures along the way that I thought I'd share with you. Some are just goofy moments, some are of the amazing crowds we've played in front of, and some are of the most gorgeous country side I've ever seen! They really do speak for themselves...hope you enjoy!!!
Much Love,
Jason
Hey guys - So last week I got a new guitar, the Taylor GS Mini, and after posting pictures on Facebook and Twitter many of you were asking for a video clip of me playing it. Well, I decided to do just that and make it my first official video blog for the website! Hope you guys love it...watch it below, and let me know what you think!!
Jason
Well looky here, we got us a new website! Welcome to the new jasonjonesmusic.com everybody!!! I'm so excited to get the new site up and I can't wait to hear what you guys think about it. It's going to be the one place you can always rely on for pictures, tour dates and all the latest updates in my world. Be sure to sign up for the new mailing list and you'll be the first to get any news right in your e-mail inbox! I'm gonna be on here as much as possible to keep you guys up to speed on things, and whenever I can't be the J-Team over at WB will be here to back me up. They're good folks and fun to work with!
Aside from getting the new site ready to launch, there's all sorts of other exciting things going on this year. After flying back to Nashville from the holidays I literally hit the ground running. I never knew how much preparation went into releasing a single! For the last two months I've been traveling all over the country visiting with radio stations and playing my songs for them, and I'll be doing this for weeks to come. It's been nothing short of amazing though, and words can't express how grateful I am to have this opportunity. I've met some great people out at country radio, made lots of new friends and had some great experiences. One of my new favorite things to do is to go on radio shows for interviews and getting to sing on-air while I'm there. I remember thinking when I was a kid how cool it would be to get to do that...and now I'm actually doing it!!! And if you haven't heard it yet, my new single is called "Ferris Wheel" and it went up on iTunes on March 8th. If you have a second to check it out and leave a comment I would absolutely love that!
On top of the radio tour, me and the guys have been doing a few shows here and there too. Well, we're about to go from doing a few shows to a TON of them! And I couldn't ask for better venues to debut a song about fallin' in love on a ferris wheel than county fairs with giant ferris wheels in the background. There are a lot of fair, festival and club dates on the calendar already, but if you don't see a show in your area don't worry because there's several more that haven't been posted yet!
So far 2011 has been the most exciting year since I moved to Nashville, and it's far from being over. And we still have to make some time to shoot the video for Ferris Wheel in the near future too! I'm seriously looking forward to that...it'll be another first for me!! I have so many blessings to count in my life, and I can't say thank you enough to all of you fans out there for your love and support of my music. This is all a big dream I had as a kid growing up in north Florida, it still is, and sometimes it's hard to believe that it's actually coming true. Thank you all for being part of it...I hope you guys love the new site, the new single and I can't wait to see you at a show in the not-so-distant future!
Much love & God bless,
Jason
